Sonic Adventure 2: Battle Review

The Sonic series rule. Ever since I first played a Sonic game on the Dreamcast I’ve loved it. The series has come a long way since then. Although this game is 3d it plays a lot like its 2d counterparts, which is great for old school Sonic fans. Although this is a port of a Dreamcast game, it has many improvements and is recommended.

The Blue Wonder has never looked better on a new system. On the Dreamcast he looked nice, but he’s nicer on the GameCube. This version makes the DC version look rather blocky.

The Sonic soundtrack has never been better. When Sonic was first released back on the Genesis, it had some great sound and so you’d expect something simply perfect for the GameCube - and Sonic doesn’t fail to deliver. You can also hear all the fast paced action as you run through big areas.

The gameplay highly follows that of the classic Sonic games with plenty of improvements. You still run at super Sonic speeds and you can roll even faster. This time around, however, you’ve gotten a grip of new attacks to fight enemies. Not only does Sonic have a bunch of moves but each character has his or her own moves depending on their physical abilities.

So if you beat Eggman is that it? No. Now you can play through the evil side and use Eggman and his comrads to beat Sonic. Not only that but you’ve got plenty of minigames, 2 player mode, and GBA-GCN connectivity to raise mini Chaos.

This is an excellent Sonic game and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. Sonic on a Nintendo platform is the best thing to ever happen to the Gamecube.
