Star Fox Adventures Review
Well after starting life as an N64 project and getting completely scrapped and redone for GameCube after four years StarFox Adventures Dinosaur Planet is finally here. For Rare’s final game on a Nintendo console this title sure doesn’t dissapoint.
The visuals in this game are top notch, from the excellent texture work all the way down to the hairs upon fox himself. Rare has boosted the graphics of what we’ve seen on GameCube to far above what I expected within its first year of life. Fox’s fur literally moves in the wind so realisticaly you wouldn’t beleve it.
While playing you will recognize a few songs from Star Fox 64, fully re-done in GameCube goodness. The voice acting is excellent, except for Slippy. Slippy’s voice will get annoying fast but at least you won’t hear it very often. Rare has done a nice job with the sound effects like Fox’s staff thudding an enemy or the sound of his feat walking.
The gameplay is very similar to the Zelda games of the N64. You have an action button, A, B is used to cancel things and put away your staff, X is Roll and Y is hot-keyed to an Item. L manages the view and Z is a first person view to look around and use the High Def. Device. If you liked Zelda’s control scheme then this control will come second nature to you.
For Rare’s last game on a Nintendo console it is a huge success. If you have liked Rare over the years then I strongly reccomend buying a copy of this must have title. To rare I say, although it’s sad you have left Nintendo thank you for the great games over the years and for leaving us with one last masterpeice.
