Super Smash Bros. Melee Review #3
This game is great, its like a Nintendo archive. It has 25 of the classic Nintendo characters, but some trophies you won’t recognize. It’s ok, some of these characters never made it to the states. Its fun to collect all these trophies and you’ll want to. To see all of them, and to see the whole room. The Nintendo room of fame. The single player now has multiple ways to play, such as classic, adventure, stadium modes, and more. Theirs lots of rewards, such as if you beat the 15 minute melee you get a course. Or beat the 100-man melee and get Falco. All of this gives you pride…and coins to unlock more trophies. This is the ultimate game so far for any Nintendo fan-boy, or Nintendo console owner. The multiplayer has tons of options, like special melee and you can battle for up to 99 minutes. There is also a tournament mode for up to 64 people. Theirs also many secret characters to unlock, but I wanted a few more. One such was Wario, how could you forget the great big N’ treasure hunter of all? One of those ducks from Duck Hunt would of been cool. Maybe, a Pikmin and Captain Olimar to choose from. That would of been cool, and some of those other guys from old-school times. Well, maybe next time!
The graphics are really good also, the movies after you beat the game and all are very good. The fighting effects are saying fairly intriging to the mind. The super scope blast is a cool effect, and the characters look good. When Princess Zelda transforms into Sheik is really cool, and all her spells are dazzling. The environments are fairly good, such as F-Zero’s mute city. Traveling through the city is cool because the buildings are detailed well. The weapons are varied, and are all unique and cool. The Pokeball shooting out a Pokemon is a very cool effect.
The sound effects are cool, even those pesky little Pokemon make noises. When you use the Homerun Bat and use it’s special move it has a sweet sound effect. In the two Legend of Zelda levels, the music changes. Sometimes it’s the Kokiri forest song from OoT, a nice melody to add. The other sponge is a nice one also. All of the characters have their screams before they’re knocked out far away, and there own sounds. Overall, the sound is pretty darn good.
The controls are excellent, and it is very easy to use. The characters all have the same controls, but the moves are different. The camera stick is a nice use, for the smash move or camera. The analog is sweet, depending on what direction you push the stick in changes your move. The shield is back, and is easily accessible. Everything about these controls is awesome. If there was a 9.5 this would get it.
Pros:
- Awesome graphics
- Great sound
- Accessible controls
- Classic environments
- Great selection of matches
Cons:
- Where’s Wario?
- Do we need 3 Pokemon?
Visuals: 8.5
Sound: 9
Originality: 7
Replay: 10
Overall: 9
